Easy Makeup Routine

Easy Makeup Routine

While I love to wear makeup just as much as the next girl, I like to keep a rather simple everyday routine. I've had a few requests for a little review and tutorial so I thought I'd share some of my recent purchases with you all! Some of you may have seen me use these products on my snapchat yesterday (theteacherdiva) and if you look fast, you may still catch my video from yesterday's tutorial using these products. I wanted to share some of old and new favorites starting with this Eyebright Lotion and Moisturiser by Liz Earle. I got these products in the Botanicals Skin Saviours Set from Birchbox and have loved using the skincare line. The Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion is perfect for refreshing tired and puffy eyes. I apply it every morning with a cotton ball, then follow with the Skin Repair Moisturiser. They smell nice too! Next up, is this Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation. My sweet in-laws gave this to me for Christmas and I don't think they've ever seen someone so excited about makeup before. As someone who loves trying new products, this has been on the top of my list. So ...

How To Make Hair Color Last

How To Make Hair Color Last

Let's face it, there's nothing like a touch of color to update your look. And while some of us prefer the natural approach, studies show that over 70% of women do color their hair. If you're like me, you probably can agree that nothing beats that fresh hair feeling you have when you leave the salon. Chances are, you love your new "do" and are willing to try anything to maintain the look for as long as possible. Many of you have asked for suggestions on how to maintain your hair color and after working in a salon for most of high school and during summers in college, I picked up a few tips that I've found helpful. In an effort to help you keep your haircolor alive as long as possible, here are five ways to keep your hair from fading: Wait to Wash When you color your hair, your stylist should remind you to not wash your hair for at least 48 hours. It's one of the most common mistakes, but important because the longer you wait before shampooing, the better chance your new color has to settle in. Find the Right Shampoo and Conditioner The first step to long lasting color is using a color protecting shampoo. I've been using Nexxus New York Salon Care Color Assure Shampoo because it is extremely gentle and sulfate free. I love the way it makes my hair feel and smell! The Nexxus New York Salon Care

Dutch Braid Ponytail Tutorial + Giveaway

Dutch Braid Ponytail Tutorial + Giveaway

Now that the holiday season has officially arrived, I wanted to share with you a hairstyle perfect for any upcoming festivities. This braided ponytail is one of my favorite looks and I love the messy texture. Gone are the days where every strand has to be in place. Now, we are embracing texture, loose curls, and of course, volume! Pro Beauty Tools, doesn't want you to miss out on the fun, so be sure to check out below and see how you can win some of my favorite hair appliances. They deliver professional performance and quality that will have you styling like a pro in no time. Good luck and thanks for stopping by! xx 1. I recommend this look on day old (or 2-day old) hair. I find that when my hair is dirty, it actually turns out better when doing a braided updo such as this. Start by spraying dry shampoo all over hair, focusing on roots. I've tried numerous brands, and one that I am currently loving is the Moroccan Oil Dry Shampoo (I use the color light and it helps keep my roots not so harsh). Use at the roots for added volume and a matte texture. Be sure to brush out the powder with a

The Holiday Collection Beauty Buys

The Holiday Collection Beauty Buys

There's nothing quite like a new shade of lipstick just in time for the holidays. As a self proclaimed product junkie, I have been very excited to share this gift guide with you! Whether your shopping for your mom, sister or friend, these are sure to put a smile on someone's face. I always look forward to the holiday gift sets. And while, I might be a sucker for the cute packaging, I also look for products I will actually use throughout the year. This lipstick set from Laura Mercier is a practical (and cute) gift set. The colors compliment most skin tones and I find they look great worn alone or as a trio. Nordstrom has a ton of options so if you're looking for more red or nude colors, they've got you covered! Here, I've layered on the pink lipgloss (included in the kit) and I love the pop of pink. It's such a fun color! A great "all in one" option is the Enchanted Eve Face ...

How to Get Big Curls

How to Get Big Curls

I am so excited to finally share with you guys a new hair tutorial.  There's no question that my favorite hairstyle is big, loose curls (after all, I am from Texas). It's also the style I wear my most often. Many of you have requested this tutorial, and while I shared a similar tutorial last year, I wanted to share an updated version and be as thorough and detailed as possible. Please let me know if you have any questions! Products Used: Pro Beauty: 1 ¼” Professional Gold Curling Iron & Ionic AC Motor Dryer Oribe: Royal Blowout, Superfine Strong Hairspray, and Goldlust Nourishing Oil Redken: Quick Tease 15 Backcombing Spray Step 1: Before creating this hairstyle, I like to start with clean hair. While I don't wash my hair everyday, this is a great way to set your look for the next couple of days. If time permits, I like to let my hair partially air dry.  I typically throw my hair up in a bun and let it air dry about 75% ...

Recent Beauty Buys

Recent Beauty Buys

With a new season approaching, it's time to start transitioning our summer makeup to something a little more neutral or bold for Fall. Just like we switch up our wardrobe, the same is true for our makeup. Here are a few easy ways to freshen up your makeup bag for fall. Before I start sharing my recent beauty finds, what better way to store your makeup than a personalized makeup bag or monogrammed acrylic case? These are two items that will definitely last you all year long, and are perfect for storing your makeup or jewelry. Makeup brushes can make all the difference when applying foundation or contouring. Recently, I purchased 3 new brushes from Sigma Beauty. I am new to the brand, but was pretty impressed with the reviews and the price point. Brushes can be so expensive, but these seemed more affordable than most and still maintained good quality. So are they worth it? Yes! These brushes are amazing. They are made from Sigmax Synthetic Fibers, meaning they don't absorb liquid or cream foundations and I have found that they don't shed like many natural hair brushes. Using these brushes have made a huge difference with applying my makeup ...

Project Beauty Event With Neiman Marcus

Project Beauty Event With Neiman Marcus

I always enjoy trying new skin and beauty products, and if you've read my blog for a while, you know that I love sharing reviews with you in my Beauty Talk series. Last week, I picked up sone new products for Fall, in prep for the Project Beauty Event I am hosting this Thursday at Neiman Marcus in Downtown Dallas (more details below). I wanted to find some new moisturizers to incorporate into my fall/winter routine as well as some new makeup. Just like our wardrobe, your skin care routine should also change with the season. With colder temps coming our way, skin tends to become more dry and appear dull. It's so important to hydrate all year, but especially in the upcoming season. I have used Kiehls for many years and recently got a sample of the Daily Reviving Concentrate and Midnight Recovery Concentrate. I loved it so much I wanted to get a larger size. This duo is nice for those who like to stick with the same brand for morning and night. So what do these do for your skin? The Daily Concentrate is super hydrating (but doesn't make your skin look oily) and is provides antioxidant protection. I find that it helps my makeup go on smoother and oddly ...

Beach Braids & Tassel Earrings

Beach Braids & Tassel Earrings

Any time I visit the beach, I instantly feel the need to wear tassels, beads and bold prints. It's no surprise that I packed this off the shoulder dress (worn as a cover up) and these blue tassel earrings for our trip to Seaside, FL last week. The blue and white seemed to be a great fit for the beach and the tassel bracelets are always a must. One of my favorite places in the Seaside Square is the little outside market. There are so many pretty shops, full of flowy dresses and linen tops. Austin and I spend one morning down here to grab some iced coffee before heading down to the beach. The weather was beautiful and it made for a great way to start the day! BRAIDED MESSY BUN When I posted this instagram, many of you asked about the products I used in my hair and requested a tutorial. I plan to work on one, but in the meantime, I used this shampoo & conditioner (the best cheap stuff ever!) this smoothing serum (also has thermal protection and UV protection...a major plus for us with colored ...
